Lucy’s Tricky Spot

What a joy it was to spend a day in the garden, hands in the soil. Kate B and I (Kate T) were lucky enough to install our first official Tricky Spot this week. And what a fantastic day it was. The sun was shining after a good week of very heavy rain, so we felt very grateful indeed. It took five hours in total to prep the site, install, mulch and clean up. We were fortunate that Murray from MTS Landscaping had cleared all the turf and existing garden edging before we arrived.

Lucy and her family had a vision to create a native habitat garden that also provided all the perennial herbs her family would need throughout the year. We turned a gorgeous old wheelbarrow into an all you can eat herb buffet, with chives, thyme and oregano. Rosemary was planted conveniently near the front door and we included some potted mint near the birdbath.

Kate and I had the fun job of prepping the soil, setting out the plants and planting, followed by watering, sheet mulching and mulching. Our happy faces say it all and Lucy was very happy with her new and improved garden. No longer a Tricky Spot, now just a joy to behold.
