Kate + Kate
Hi, we are Kate and Kate. One is a Horticulturalist the other a Landscape Architect, and we go way back, besties for over 40 years ;)
Gardening has always been a passion of ours. It’s a way of connecting to people and place, giving back to the environment, and creating a place where life thrives.
In Australia, we’re lucky to live alongside incredible biodiversity — native birds, bees, butterflies, and so many unique plants that exist nowhere else on Earth. But with so much habitat lost to a sprawling city and changing climate, we believe gardeners have an important role to play.
Every garden, no matter how small, can become a sanctuary.
When we design a garden, or courtyard or garden bed, we are not just thinking about what looks good (although we love that too). We are thinking about how to invite life in:
Planting banksias and grevilleas to feed our beautiful native birds.
Growing flowering shrubs and groundcovers that provide food and shelter for pollinators.
Leaving spaces a little messy so native bees can find a home.
Providing a water source for our pollinators and birds in our hot dry climate.
Building biodiversity in your own backyard is one of the most powerful ways to help the environment. And there’s something deeply grounding about it. Watching a red wattlebird feeding on the grevilleas you have planted and nurtured or seeing your first Blue-banded bee arrive in spring. It reminds us that small actions matter. That connection to nature can begin just a few steps outside your back door.
That’s why we garden.
For the beauty, but even more for the life it brings. If you would like to make a greater difference and create a living habitat garden, but your not sure were to begin. We can help… No Tricky Spot is too big or too small, our packages start from 1-5m2. Still got questions? Shoot us an email or sign up to our newsletter below for more information.
